Amazonite

  • As you might gather from its name, Amazonite is known for and defined by its associations with the largest river in South America, the Amazon. In fact, it is affectionately known as the Amazon Stone by people in that region of the world.

  • Amazonite is typically light green to greenish blue or bluish green.

  • The healing properties of Amazonite are known to benefit the throat, thyroid, and nerve pathways, aiding in cell regeneration and healing after trauma or injury.

Amethyst

  • High-quality amethyst can be found in Siberia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Uruguay, and the Far East.

  • The finest amethyst color is a strong reddish purple or purple with no visible color zoning. Amethyst can range in color from lilac to purple, reddish-purple and bluish-purple.

  • It is believed to help with anxiety, depression, clear the mind, wash away toxic thinking, encourage solid sleep patterns, and ease tension and headaches.

Ametrine

  • The world's only commercial source of ametrine is the Anahi mine in southeastern Bolivia. Legend has it that a Spanish conquistador discovered the mine's location in the 1600s and introduced the gem to Europeans when he presented several specimens to his queen.

  • Transparent, bicolored quartz with the colors of both amethyst and citrine in the same gem is called ametrine or amethyst-citrine. The contrasting colors give it an intriguing appearance. Fine ametrine shows medium dark to moderately strong orange, and vivid to strong purple or violetish purple.

Aquamarine

  • This gemstone is mined mainly in Brazil, but it is also found in Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Pakistan, and Mozambique.

  • Aquamarine is most often light in tone and ranges from greenish blue to blue-green. The color is usually more intense in larger stones, and darker blue stones are very valuable.

  • The properties of Aquamarine related to physical healing are thought to be closely connected with breathing. Sometimes referred to as the “breath stone,” aquamarine is known to alleviate sinus, lung, and respiratory problems.

Beryl

  • Beryl is a common mineral, and it is widely distributed in nature. It is found most commonly in granitic pegmatites, but also occurs in mica schists, such as those of the Ural Mountains, and in limestone in Colombia.

  • Pure beryl is colorless, but it is frequently tinted by impurities; possible colors are green, blue, yellow, pink, and red (the rarest).

  • It is typically jet-black in color, but it can sometimes have a dark gray or brown tint.

Black Onyx

  • Black Onyx is a gemstone found in various regions of the world including Greece, Yemen, Uruguay, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Latin America, the UK, and various states in the US.

  • Raw black onyx is usually not completely black. It can appear brown/greyish and sometimes dark green in colour when found in it´s natural state. But it appears black because it´s so deep in colour and opaque.

Black Tourmaline

  • Black tourmaline is found in many countries around the world, including but not limited to: Brazil, Mozambique, Madagascar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, and the United States. Some of the most significant deposits of black tourmaline are found in Brazil, where it is often found in large quantities in volcanic rocks.

  • Black Tourmaline often appears as a dark, opaque black crystal. Its surface can be rough or smooth and may have striations or natural patterns.

Bloodstone

  • Generally found embedded in rocks or riverbeds as pebbles, primary sources for this gemstone are India, Brazil, and Australia.

  • Bloodstone is a forest green jasper with bright red spots of iron oxide probably hematite.

Bronzite

  • This bronze-colored gemstone is found all over the world, including USA, Austria, England, South Africa, India, Norway and Greenland. Bronzite can be found in igneous rocks and has been discovered in meteorites.

  • Bronzite is a mostly brown to black gemstone with speckles of gold scattered throughout. It's the gemological name and abundant, iron-bearing variety of enstatite.

Chalcedony

  • Chalcedony can be found in California, Iceland, India, Mexico, Namibia, Nevada, Oregon, Russia.

  • Chalcedony has a waxy luster, and may be semitransparent or translucent. It can assume a wide range of colors, but those most commonly seen are white to gray, grayish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black.

Chrysocolla

  • Chrysocolla can be found wherever large copper deposits occur, such as Africa, Mexico and the U.S. state of Arizona (where it is called Apache chrysocolla). Chrysocolla from the state of Arizona is a mixture of chrysocolla, turquoise, jasper, lapis, malachite and quartz crystal minerals.

  • The most abundant sources of natural citrine are found in Bolivia, Madagascar, Mexico, Spain and Uruguay.

  • Quartz is present and plentiful in all parts of the world because it forms at all temperatures and is abundant in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Clear rock crystal quartz is found in the U.S., Brazil, Russia and Madagascar.

  • Clear Quartz Crystal is colourless and transparent (clear) or translucent, ranging through to milky or cloudy almost opaque crystal and is amongst the most common types of crystals on the planet.

Coral Gemstone

  • Organic gemstones are biogenic materials composed of organic matter. The pink and red colors in coral are attributed to carotene.   • Large deposits of hematite are found in banded iron formations. Gray hematite is typically found in places that have still, standing water or mineral hot springs, such as those in Yellowstone National Park in North America.

  • Hematite occurs in a range of forms, and its color can range from black to gray, or from red to brown depending on which variety is present.

Howlite

  • Howlite can be found not only in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and New Brunswick, Canada, but also in Turkey, Mexico, Germany, Russia and a range of sites in California.

  • Howlite is an opaque white or light grey porous stone, marked with black, grey or dark brown veining. It does not facet well, but looks beautiful when carved into large shapes with curves (such as globes, eggs or skulls), or cut en cabochon.

Jade

  • Jade is found in Myanmar, New Zealand, Canada, Taiwan, Guyana, Surinam, southern Europe, Russia and China

  • The stone itself is typically of a green hue, but variations of it can range anywhere from a pale green/brown to near black. The color name "Jade" itself can refer to several shades of green.

  • Jade is a powerful cleansing stone, enhancing the body's filtration and elimination organs. It is excellent for treating the kidneys, spleen and supra-adrenal glands, removing toxins and balancing the fluids and water-salt/acid-alkaline ratios in the body.

Jasper

  • Jaspers are found all over the world, with certain colors or patterns unique to particular locales. Most bloodstone comes from India, all Mookaite from Australia.

  • Different variations of Jasper can be found in colors like Bi-color, Black, Blue, Gray, Green, Multi-color, Orange, Purple, Red, White, and Yellow, though the rarest of all colors of Jasper are green and blue stones.

Kunzite

  • Pale pink kunzite was discovered in 1902 in the Pala District of San Diego County in California. Today, the prism-shaped crystals with their typical vertical striations are mainly found in Afghanistan, Madagascar, Brazil and the USA.

  • Kunzite is the pink-to-violet variety of the mineral spodumene, and gets its color from manganese. It's most often found in shades of pale pink, but more vivid colors are possible and it can achieve rare hues of vivid violet to purple. Kunzite's color can be enhanced by irradiation followed by heating.

  • The wonderful stone kunzite is used for a variety of health-related purposes and is good for the heart and circulatory system. It keeps the breath flowing, keeps the muscles warm, and promotes physical healing in addition to maintaining the flow of breath.

Kyanite

  • The most famous mining area for kyanite is the Kali Gandaki region, which is located in the border region of Nepal and Tibet. The deposit was discovered in 1995. Other sites are in Brazil, Kenya, Myanmar, Austria, Switzerland, Zimbabwe and the USA.

  • Normally regarded as a blue gem, Kyanite also comes in brown, gray, green, orange, and white. Similar to Sapphire, Kyanite's blues are caused by iron and titanium, hence the visual similarities, while its greens are caused by chromium and vanadium, the same elements responsible for the green in Emerald.

  • The gemstone was first discovered in the 1770s in north-eastern Canadian region Labrador. The gem is found widely in Paul's Island, which is close to Nian, a town in Labrador. It is commonly found in Norway, Finland, Madagascar, China, the USA, Australia and Slovakia.

Lava Stone

  • Can be found anywhere in the world that has volcanic activity. Lava Stones are formed when volcanoes erupt. The lava runs down the volcano side, and once this incredibly liquid rock dries, it becomes a lava stone. Geologically its usually Basalt - an igneous rock that forms when gasses in magma begin to solidify and harden into rock.

  • Lava beads occur naturally in three colors, including black, grey and brown. Today, they can be found in an assortment of colors as they often dyed. It is typically dark in color, ranging from gray and black to brown and reddish-brown.

  • The finest moonstones are found mainly in Sri Lanka and Southern India. Other varieties occur Australia, Armenia, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States. The rainbow variety of moonstone can be found in India and Madagascar.

  • Moonstones range in appearance from semitransparent to opaque and colorless to white, with a blue, silver, or white adularescent effect. Moonstone bodycolors vary widely. They can be green, yellow to brown, or gray to nearly black.

  • Most of the morganite on the market comes from pegmatite mines in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Afghanistan, Mozambique, Namibia, and the US have been minor and inconsistent sources. While it's only a minor producer today, the original Madagascar deposit still sets the standard for the best material.

  • Morganite is the pink to orange-pink variety of beryl, a mineral that includes emerald and aquamarine. Blends of pink and orange are typical natural morganite colors. At 146.58 cts., this oval-cut morganite is a sizeable specimen.

  • Moss agate is formed as a result of volcanic activity and is found in fissures or fragments from weathered volcanic rock. It can be found around the world in places like India, Brazil, United States, Europe, and Uruguay.

  • Moss agate can be green, colorless or transparent and have red, white, green or brown inclusions.
